For pity’s sake, what’s this? Why are DC throwing out the one thing keeping the fans around - the continuity. Hell, the only thing they’ve done* recently worth half a damn was 52, and that was almost entirely based around continuity and related concepts. I can see why it makes sense from a storytelling, and to a more limited extent, a business perspective - clearing the cruft of the last 25 years just as Crisis on Infinite Earths did, and hopefully making the whole thing more approachable, in a Ultimate sort of way, because it doesn’t carry the burden of continuity. However, I think Marvel did the smart thing, and made Ultimate its own little pocket universe, thereby satisfying both camps. However, it’s apparently going to mark a change in direction in terms of sales strategy, with day-and-date print/digital releases, which can only be a good thing. We’ll see…
